How do I know if my child can get disability funding in Ontario?
Several disability funding and support programs exist in Ontario but finding, accessing and applying can be an arduous and difficult task for many.
We have listed them on our homepage by category and by age group but thought that bringing them all together would be helpful:
Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities Program (Income based)
Autism Ontario – Building Brighter Futures Fund (provides financial assistance directly to autistic adults in Ontario through a reimbursement of funds spent to access greater participation in their local communities) 2022 applications now closed
Canada Caregiver Credit : a Federal non-refundable tax credit
DTC: Disability Tax Credit: a Federal non-refundable tax credit that reduces the amount of income tax paid
DSO: (Developmental Services Ontario (18+) including Passport Funding
Jordan’s Principal (First Nations children anywhere in Canada)
OAP: Ontario Autism Program (under 18)
ODSP: Ontario Disability Support Program(18+) for income support, benefits for health costs and other disability supports
OSAP: Ontario Student Assistance Program for under-represented learners – Students with disabilities
Passport Funding for those with a developmental disability (Apply at 16 for 18+) Funds community service, supports and respite
SSAH: Special Services at Home- Caregiver relief and activities of personal growth
